Cloud Risks and Opportunities
ABSTRACT
The U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), in its reference architecture for cloud computing (SP500-292), defines five actors: the cloud auditor, consumer, provider, carrier and broker. As cloud computing continues to grow in popularity, each actor has a duty to identify and define threats to the ecosystem, and defend against them. In many cases, the actors must come together and collaborate with industry and academia to develop solutions. In this presentation, John Howie, Chief Operating Officer of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) and Research Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Arizona, will provide an overview of the threat research activities of the CSA and current areas of concern for three actors: consumer, carrier and provider.
